Barrel of oil down to $88

NEW YORK — Oil prices plunged below $90 a barrel Monday, coming within reach of year-ago levels as a widening financial maelstrom spreads overseas and crimps global demand for energy.

But as I listened Thursday night to Urban County Council members and others discuss whether to go forward with a tax increment financing project tied to the CentrePointe development, one phrase kept running through my mind: Lipstick on a pig.
